The instruments
Three are ready. The rest are listed so a family with a six-month-old can see what will still be here when the child is four.

On the way
Each comes with something worth thinking about before it opens.
- Next4–12 months
- Feeding introduction
- Baby-led weaning, purées, mixed — which fits how you eat and live?
- Not open yet. A feeding specialist checks it first, because allergens and choking are medical questions rather than a matter of style.
- Worth talking over now: who is at most meals, how much mess your days can take, and whether the baby will mostly eat what you eat. For allergens and choking, ask your health visitor or GP.
- Next0–24 months
- Sleep approach
- Co-sleeping, gradual, extinction, no-cry — and what you can actually sustain
- Not open yet. Safe sleep is a medical question, so a paediatric sleep specialist reviews this one before it goes live.
- Worth talking over now: how many broken nights each of you can take, who gets up, and what you do when you disagree at 3am. Safe-sleep guidance comes from your health visitor or GP, whichever approach you take.
- Planned0–4 years
- Childcare choice
- Daycare, nanny, au pair, staying home, grandparents — against your values, not just the cost
- Coming later. For most families, cost, hours and distance settle this before values come into it, and the instrument will weigh both.
- Worth writing down now: your working hours, the most you can pay each month, and how far you can travel twice a day. Those three rule out more options than anything else.
- PlannedAny stage
- Language at home
- One parent one language, minority language at home, time and place
- Coming later. For homes with more than one language, which very little else is written for.
- Worth noticing now: which language each of you uses with your child when tired or cross. That is usually the one your home actually runs on.
- Planned2–10 years
- Discipline and boundaries
- Positive discipline, natural consequences, behavioural
- Coming later, possibly as part of parenting philosophy rather than on its own.
- Worth comparing now: what each of you does in the first ten seconds after something gets thrown. The parenting philosophy instrument already covers much of this.
- Planned0–6 years
- Play and toys
- Open-ended, structured, minimal, Montessori-shaped
- Coming later, as a shorter instrument with no paid report, at least at first.
- Worth noticing this week: what your child goes back to on their own, and what you find yourself setting up for them.
